New Year's Eve Challenge for horse and dog
The days are getting shorter, gingerbread and gifts have been available for a long time and a big event is casting its dark shadows ahead: The turn of the year! New Year's Eve is a horror for many animal owners and especially for their protégés, and with good reason.
Bang and rockets do not only frighten horses, dogs, cats and birds. Frightening is a broad term. From wide-open eyes to running around wet from sweat to a full-grown panic attack, everything is there. With some it is so bad that it comes to colics and injuries. Chemical sedation often seems to be the only way out. The good news is: it doesn't has to be, our animals don't have to suffer helplessly from the stress of civilization. We can help them, we can train relaxation with the unfortunate fireworks! Noise can be learned, with the help of operant and classical conditioning it is at least possible to take the fear peaks clearly.
That's why I call the New Year's Eve Challenge into being. Your task: Train at least 30 different stimuli from all directions with your animal. Every session you set in the "
Horse Agility and Clickertraining" group on Facebook. There is not only a much more relaxed horse to win, but also a Steigerwald.T-2BW (two-hooves-rocker), a "Agility with horses" DVD, a Steigerwald.T cutting board and the new edition of my book "True Horse Agility". To take part in the raffle, all you have to do is book the Challenge for €0.00 and register as a customer here in the shop. On my channel "
Nina Steigerwald" on Youtube I show you the procedure and possible training steps. I want to make for many creatures New Year's Eve as pleasant as possible.
